Introduction

In this list, I have compiled the domain ranking factors.

Google's algorithm combines over 200 ranking parameters.

I've mentioned some of the factors that contribute to domain ranking.

1. Domain Age

  • Domain age may be a ranking factor for some other reasons.
  • But according to Google "domain age helps nothing for ranking".

2. Keyword appears in TLD

  • Placing our keyword in our domain does not help us for ranking.
  • It just acts a application for the search enginges to display content.

3. Keyword as First Word in Domain

  • Keyword as first word in domain is important for those who are building a brand or business.
  • Because it is easy to remember your domain name as a brand.
  • For Google it's not important to put keyword in our domain names for better rankings.

4. Domain Registration Length

  • A domain name is our address on the web.
  • A long domain name doesn't affect our site rankings on the web.
  • But a short domain address or url is easy for marketing and also for search engine optimization.

5. Keyword in Subdomain Name

  • Keyword in subdomain name will help us for on-page optmization.
  • But it's not a necessary factor for ranking.

6. Domain History

  • Domain history is not a necessary ranking factor.
  • But, be careful while purchasing expired domains.
  • Because, in some cases - a penalized domain carries the same penalty to the new domain owner.

7. Exact Match Domain

  • EMD's are used for branding and adding information directly in the search result.
  • It shows what is our website is about to the consumer in the search result itself.
  • It is most widely used for remembering a particular site for particular service.
  • There is no any proven benefit of EMD for SEO.

8. Public vs Private WhoIs

  • The WhoIs data is just the information about the website or domain owner.
  • Keeping it public or private is our own desires.
  • It makes no difference to the ranking of a website.

9. Penalized WhoIs owner

  • If any domain has previously been penelized.
  • And the information of that domain owner, who is running other sites, appears in the WhoIs database.
  • Then Google begins to look into their other sites that are owned by the same person.

10. Country TLD Extension

  • Having a Top Level Domain extension helps ranking in that particular country.
  • However, in the majority of situations, it has an impact on the domain's worldwide ranking.

Conclusion

The domain ranking variables listed above are Google's ranking factors.
